The 76th Infantry's Colonel Samuel T. Busey was appointed a Brevet Brigadier General in April, 1865. After his return home to Urbana, Champaign County, Illinois, Samuel and his brother Simeon established the Busey Brothers & Co. Bank, which operates today as the Busey Bank.
