• established in May 1864
• site for 7,000+ interments of Union soldiers moved from abandoned cemeteries located all over southern Louisiana, Ship Island, and Mississippi.
• over 12,000 soldiers but almost 7,000 are unknown.
• Search the Chalmette database through the Civil War Center
